Welcome

Since graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art from Reading University in 1984, I have exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Pembrokeshire and Southern Ireland.

My paintings fall somewhere between figuration and abstraction. They are concerned with the exploration of inner responses to people and places and the objects and landscapes in my every-day life.

The paintings develop and change as I respond to the form and colour on canvas. This process has a life of its own, and the finished paintings are built up using many layers of paint.

The unconscious process has always been an important aspect in my work, creating the opportunity to explore and communicate emotions and internal states of being, which I hold as important as the representing of the actual.

I gained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy in 1986 and worked as an Art Therapist for more than twelve years in the NHS.

I am also a Director of spacetocreate community arts www.spacetocreate.org.uk and over the last six years have worked on a diverse range of visual arts and educational projects as well as teaching painting and drawing classes.
